August 19, 2020 – El Paso County Department of Public Works has contracted with Martin Marietta Materials for the 2020 Asphalt Paving Contract. Paving operations are underway on Ellicott Highway from US 24 north through Sweet Road.
The work will be completed in two phases. During the first phase, Ellicott Highway will be closed at Murphy Road and Sweet Road. In the second phase, Ellicott Highway will be closed at US 24 and Murphy Road.
Drivers will need to take alternate routes during construction. Access will only be provided to residents adjacent to the work. Drivers should plan for added travel time through this area.
Safety Tips for Drivers:
- Reduce speeds in work zone
- Watch for workers, equipment, signs and barricades
- Don’t tailgate
- Keep headlights on during overnight & early morning hours
The overall project, which includes paving and road reconstruction, is expected to be completed September 29, weather permitting.
